Jefferson - More historic buildings are arriving at Jefferson Depot Village each year!
The latest is the Sheffield Post Office, the Benetka Blacksmith Shop and the 1888 Victorian Parsonage.
The school has been restored and has joined the depot, caboose, church, church barn, general store, post office, and pharmacy in the depot village in downtown Jefferson at 147 East Jefferson Street. It is another educational, historic building being saved and restored with donations and volunteer labor.
All of these restored 1800's buildings will provide a place for young people to learn about their ancestry and experience how life was lived a century ago.
Actual 1890 classes will be taught by a strict schoolmarm in the old schoolhouse in April, May, and September, also in July at "Early America LIVE", and upon request for group tours. Teachers can schedule classes by calling Virgie Butcher, 440-576-8277.
A variety of cultural and historic programs are held at the depot and surrounding buildings throughout the year, plus all the buildings are available for weddings, meetings, reunions, group tours and parties.

Annual Jefferson Depot Village "YARD SALE" is scheduled for AUGUST 14-15, 2009. All material donations are appreciated. Call (440) 576-0496 for your items to be picked up or please bring them to the Depot, using the East Walnut Street entrance.
